Mr. Chester E. Findley, 93, of Cortland Road, New Paris, died Wednesday, April 13th, 2016.
Mr. Findley was born in Helixville on Tuesday, August 1, 1922, the son of the late John Edgar and Idella (Bence) Findley.
On August 22, 1942, he married Mabel M. (Ranker) Findley. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2010.
He is survived by Daughter- Betty J. wife of Charles Bachman, Marietta, GA; Daughter- Carol J. wife of Bernie Fetter, Bedford; Son- Robert C. husband of Gay (Corley) Findley, New Paris; Sister- Jean Shaffer, Schellsburg. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Charles & Christopher Bachman, Anita Callihan, Matthew Fetter and John Findley, and eight great grandchildren, Hannah & Tate Bachman, Gryphon & Graysen Callihan, Cole Fetter, Hailey Findley and Ava & Levi Findley. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Weber.
Chester served in the US Army with the 894th AAA during W.W.II and was a lifetime member of the Everett American Legion Post #8. He was first employed as a truck driver for Cramer Brothers in Everett. He then drove for Laurel Packaging, now Pepsi Cola, retiring in 1989. Chester was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 with Rev. Richard Whetstone officiating.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Everett Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
