Mr. Charles R. Miller, age 79, of Fish Hatchery Road, New Paris died Friday, October 12th, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Miller was born in Alum Bank on Monday, January 9, 1933, the son of the late Verwin "Bussie" and Beulah (Shawlis) Miller.
On October 9, 1956, he married Gloria (Figard) Miller. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Charla widow of Joe Cooper, New Paris; Daughter- Lori Burkhart, Manns Choice; Daughter- Lisa widow of Dennis Sprigg, New Paris; Daughter- Charlene wife of Larry Melton, AL; Sister- Eileen wife of Joe Tanzy, Alum Bank; Sister- Barbara widow of Ben Slagle, GA; Sister- Charlotte wife of Kenneth Brunty, TX; Sister- Patsy widow of Mike Wiley, FL; Brother- John husband of Charlotte (Smith) Miller, Osterburg; Brother- Ray husband of Joan (Hoba) Miller, Alum Bank; Brother- Jim husband of Joyce (Smith) Miller, Shippensburg; Brother- Sam husband of Myrna (McGee) Miller, Hagerstown, MD; Granddaughter- Brandi Rogers, New Paris; Grandson- Johathan husband of Krystal Miller, New Paris; Grandson- Conn Mervin, Saxton; Grandson- Carlton Milton. , and four great grandchildren, Natalie Cooper, Devin Swope, Aurianna Mervin and Carter Miller. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Miller, a brother, Glenn Miller, and two grandsons, Michael Cooper and Dustin Jester
Charles was a member of the Horne Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army and was discharged in May of 1961. Charles worked for Interstate Motor Freight for 25 years. He also worked in maintenance at Windber Hospital and in construction around the area. He enjoyed fishing and camping and his prize possession was his Red Dodge Truck.
A Funeral Service will be held at Horne Methodist Church, Reed Road, Alum Bank at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 with Rev. Glenn Blackstone officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
