Mr. Cecil D. Shaffer, age 82, of Chalybeate Road, Bedford, died at 12:58 PM, Thursday, February 16th, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Shaffer was born in Everett on Monday, October 28, 1929,  he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Juna B. (Shearer) Shaffer.

On September 14, 1954, he married Faye (Eshelman) Shaffer.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Nancy L. wife of  Lynn Clark, Bedford; Son- Alan D. Shaffer, Bedford; Daughter- Judy F. wife of  Tim Olivieri, Roaring Spring; Daughter- Lori A. Shaffer and fiancé Shannon Young, Bedford; Daughter- Lisa G. wife of  Adam Karns, Delmar, MD; Sister- Lois Bingham, Bedford; Sister- Helen Shaffer, Bedford. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lincy wife of Eric Taylor, Lacey Clark, Tony, Nicole and Ashley Olivieri and Logan and Jesse Karns, and three great grandchildren, Austin, Shiloh and Gracie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charity V. Shaffer

Cecil was a lifetime member of the Bald Hill Lutheran Church.   He served in the U.S. Army as a a corporal during the Korean War.  Cecil was employed as a fuel delivery truck driver with various companies in the county, working for Agway for 38 years.  He was a member of the Everett Redman. Cecil enjoyed telling stories and helping anyone in need.  In his later years, he spent a lot of time helping out at Bob Foor Cars and was a regular member of the McDonald's coffee crew.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held  at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 20th,  2012 with Pastor Jenny Barnes officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 &7-9 PM and on Monday 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
