Mr. Carl G. Fetter, 92, of Myers Fetter Road, New Paris (Cessna), died at 8:11 PM, Friday, September 30th, 2011 at Allegheny Lutheran Home, Hollidaysburg.
Mr. Fetter was born in Bedford Twp. on Saturday, March 8, 1919, the son of the late George L. and Mary E. (Hoagland) Fetter.
On February 3, 1944, he married Norma Jean (Wilson) Fetter. She preceded him in death on January 19 of this year.
He is survived by Daughter- Crystal wife of William Klein, Holland, MI; Daughter- Sheila Suter, Bedford; Daughter- Jill Ann Fetter, New Paris; Sister- Betty Glover, Bedford; Sister- Alice Miller, Bedford; Sister- Evelyn Wilkins, Manns Choice; Sister- Shirley Ketterman, Bedford; Brother- Dale Fetter, Bedford; Brother- Paul Fetter, Bedford; Brother- Ira Fetter, Fishertown; Brother- Eugene Fetter, New Paris; Brother- Russell Fetter, Bedford. He is also survived by four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Reisling and Ruth Norris
Carl served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force during W.W.II. He was a member of the 504 Ftr. Sq. with the 339 Ftr. Gp. Carl was involved in the Air Offensive during the Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe Military campaigns and received the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with one OLC Presidential Unit Citation and the European, African, Middle Eastern Service Medal with six Bronze Stars. He was employed as a truck driver for Lane Metal for 23 years. Carl was a member of the St. Paul's Reformed Church, a past president of the St. Paul's Cemetery Association and a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113. .
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 with Pastor Howard Sloan officiating.
Interment will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home in Bedford.
Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
