Mr. Carey H. "Bud"  Ellis, 62, of Ellis  Road, Schellsburg, died at 2:43 PM, Friday, August 3rd, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown.

Mr. Ellis was born in Roaring Spring on Saturday, August 13, 1949,  the son of the late Hartzel and Jean (Defibaugh) Ellis.

On June 24, 1972, he married Naomi J. (Ackerman) Ellis.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Scott H. husband of  Melissa (Hish) Ellis, Geneva, IL; Son- Matthew A. husband of  Holly (Koshurba) Ellis, Winchester, KY; Sister- Connie Imler, VA; Sister- Carol Peck, VA; Sister- Charlotte Oyler, Everett; Brother- Clair Ellis, Imler; Sister- Cindy Spade, Crystal Spring; Brother- Chuck Ellis, VA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sammy, Sophia, Mallory and Haley.

Bud was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church of Osterburg.  He served in the US Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War with the Company B, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.  Bud graduated Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He then went on to earn his Masters Degree in Accounting from St. Francis University.  Bud worked as a licensed CPA for the Internal Revenue Service.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Pleasantville VFW Post #9219, the Bedford American Legion Post
#113 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart #992. Bud enjoyed hunting, especially in the American West, shooting, gardening and spending time with his family.  .

A Funeral Service will be held  at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012  with Pastor Donna Wolfinger officiating.

Interment will be held at  Imler Valley Cemetery.

Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasantville VFW or the Bedford American Legion.
