Mrs. Betty Doreen Young of Colonial Courtyard, formerly of Everett died Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital after a short illness at the age of 90.

Betty was married to Jesse G. Young who preceded her in death on December 31, 1992.

Betty was born on Saturday, July 12, 1925 in Bracknell, Berks, England.  She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Jane (Jaggard) Morshead and had 13 brothers and sisters.

Betty met SSGT Jesse G. Young, USAF and they married on May 8, 1944 at 2:00 PM.  Their first child Carole Ann was born in England in 1945.  Betty and Carole came to the U.S. in 1946. She and Jesse had four children.

She is survived by  Daughter- Carole  Ann  Young, Bedford; Son- Jesse Robert "Bob" Young, Hopewell; Son- Alexander husband of  Karen Young, Bedford. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren,  one great great grandson and a special niece, Lucinda Joy (Young) Dietz.  Betty was adopted as a grandmother by the family of Steve and Linda Hess of Everett.  She was preceded in death on March 8, 1974 by her son, Patrick.

Betty was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Bedford United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed many weekly outings with her niece Linda Hinkle.  Betty was beloved by many and will always be remembered for her hugs given before letting anyone leave and her constant cup of tea.  She will be greatly missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 16th, 2015 with Pastor Jeffrey Welsch officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Bedford.
