Betty H. (Casteel) Manges

Mrs. Betty H. Manges, 87, of Bedford, died Monday, June 2nd, 2014 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Mrs. Manges was born in Bedford on Monday, June 7, 1926,  the daughter of the late John and Ella (Dibert) Casteel.

On December 31, 1945, she married Walter Mowry Manges.  He preceded her in death on July 18, 1974.

She is survived by  Son- Donald Eugene husband of  Margaret Manges, Kissimmee, FL; Daughter- Janis Lynn wife of  Roger Smith, Bedford; Daughter- Judy Ann King and companion William "Bill" Mangiacarne, Portage; Brother- Clyde husband of  Romaine Casteel, Bedford. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Aaron, Michelle, Jennifer, Danielle, Kevin, Adam, Renee & Christy, and eight great grandchildren, Steven, Andrew, Matthew, Phillip, Joseph, Emily, Brooke & Lucas. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Dale Manges, three brothers, Joseph, John & George and by a sister, Margaret.

Betty was a homemaker and previously worked at the Bedford Shoe Factory.  She was an avid gardener, loved both reading and doing crossword puzzles.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 6th, 2014 with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.

Interment will be held at Ritchey Cemetery in Snake Spring Twp.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Bedford.
