Mr. Benjamin H. Blackburn, 79, of Freedom Lane, Schellsburg, died Sunday, June 5th, 2016, after a courageous battle with pancreatic & lung cancer, at his home
Mr. Blackburn was born in Napier Township on Saturday, May 1, 1937, he was the son of the late Preston and Gladys (Adkins) Blackburn.
On May 28, 1959, he married Alice L. (Kipp) Blackburn. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Vincent Lee Blackburn, Manns Choice; Daughter- Tracy (Blackburn) Dravis and companion Boyd Ickes, Schellsburg; Granddaughter- Casie (Cook) wife of Jason Boden, Keyser, WV; Great Grandchildren- Hannah Marie & Ethen Scott Boden; Sister- Patricia (Blackburn) wife of Bernard Kipp, Schellsburg; Half Sister- Anna Mae (Shaffer) Emrick, Alum Bank. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth (Blackburn) Harbaugh, Violet (Blackburn) Wentz & Louise (Blackburn) Taylor; six half brothers, Homer Blackburn, Vincent Godfrey, James Godfrey, Edward Godfrey, Roy Godfrey & Calvin Shaffer; and five half sisters, Helen (Blackburn) Weaver, Hazel (Blackburn) Slack, Elsie (Blackburn) Hinson, Blanch (Godfrey) Krise & Marie (Godfrey) Miller.
Ben was of the Protestant Faith. He was employed for over 30 years at Lane Metal. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend and he will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 with Pastor John Geyer officiating.
Interment will be held at Stone Church Cemetery, Fishertown.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
