Mrs. Anita P. Feathers, 88, of Kaufman Hollow Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, December 12th, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mrs. Feathers was born in Altoona on May 6, 1929, the daughter of the late James and Helen Mae (Williams) Strawmyer.
On September 11, 1950, she married Arnold D. Feathers in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1974.
She is survived by Son- Ronald Feathers, Altoona; Son- Russell husband of Deb Feathers, Bedford; Daughter- Janet wife of Homer Weyandt, Bedford; Son- Steve husband of Anita Feathers, Osterburg; Son- Brett Feathers, Bedford; Daughter- Julie wife of Dan Chapel, Bedford. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Ben Feathers and the following brothers and sisters, Jimmy, Catherine, Violet and Hilda.
Anita was employed at the Shoe Factory in Everett. She then went on to be the very first cashier at the Mile Level Market and continued to work there with her family for many years. Anita was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She was an wonderful mother, devoted grandmother and loyal friend and she will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16th, 2017 with Pastor Erik Lingenfelter officiating.
Interment will be held at Osterburg Community Church Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
