Mr. Andrew  Yankanich, 89, of Olney, MD died Friday, October 14th, 2016 at Brinton Woods Nursing Home, Sykesville, MD.

Mr. Yankanich was born in Chester on Thursday, March 31, 1927,  the son of the late John and Nellie (Adomnik) Yankanich.

On September 5, 1953, he married Dorothy Ann (Bittlebrun) Yankanich.  She preceded him in death on October 26, 2011.

He is survived by  Daughter- Judith Ann widow of Charles Porter, Salisbury, MD; Son- Larry E. husband of Jackie (Colbert) Yankanich, Brookville, MD; Daughter- Debra wife of Donald Thompson, Frederick, MD; Son- Gary husband of Janet (Burch) Yankanich, Olney, MD; Daughter- Linda wife of Garth Coe, Falling Waters, WV; Son- David husband of Molly (Munshour) Yankanich, Olney, MD; Son- Johnny Yankanich, Mt. Airy, MD; Sister- Martha Price, Philadelphia; Sister- Pauline Adams, Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren,  5 great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Andrew Yankanich, sisters, Nellie & Ethel and a brother, John, Jr.

Andrew was a member of the St. Catherine Laboure Church in Wheaton, MD.  He served 20 years in the military.  He first served in the US Navy during W.W. II, then went on to served in the US Army Air Force and the US Air Force, retiring on October 31, 1965.  He was an electrician by trade.  Andrew worked three years at Bethesda Naval Hospital, he then went on to worked at IBM in Gaithersburg, MD, retiring after 20 years of employment. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 with Father Richard Tomkosky, celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
