Mrs. Alice N. Rininger, 86, of W. Pitt St., Bedford, formerly of Cessna, passed away Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rininger was born in Cumberland Valley Twp. on January 31, 1931, the daughter of the late Ralph and Ora Jane (Deremer) Rose.
On October 26, 1954, she married C. Dean Rininger. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2002.
She is survived by Son- Thomas W. husband of Julie (Clapper) Rininger, Bedford; Granddaughters- Heather & Autumn; Brother- John husband of Lois Rose, Delanco, New Jersey; Sister- Judith wife of John Bearer, Carroltown; Brother- Richard husband of Donna Rose, Rosenberg, Texas; Brother- Robert husband of Janet Rose, York; Sister- Linda wife of Paul Beiterman, Greensburg; Brother- Joseph Rose, Pierre, South Dakota and by a Sister-in-Law- Ethel McCarty, Brownstown, Michigan . She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon, a son, William D. Rininger and a brother, Harold Rose.
Alice was a member of the St. John's Christian Church in Cessna where she sang in the choir. She was a 1949 graduate of Bedford High School. Along with her husband, Alice co-owned and operated the Cessna Gulf Station and Dean's Supermarket in Cessna for over forty years. Prior to opening the store in 1956, she worked for the Washington Coffee Shop, Diehl's Electric and Ed's Steakhouse. Alice enjoyed gardening, crocheting and taking trips on Bollman's Charter with her friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and she will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at St. John's Christian Church, Cessna at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 with Pastor Eric Larson officiating.
Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford and Wednesday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at St. John's Christian Church, Cessna.
