Mr. Albert V. Mellott, 74, of E. Penn St., Bedford died Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital

Mr. Mellott was born in Everett on Saturday, March 29, 1941, the son of the late Ollie and Hattie (Hann) Mellott.

On June 22, 1963, he married  Phyllis (Moorehead) Mellott.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- David Brian husband of  Melanie Mellott, Bedford; Brother- Ellis "Gabe" husband of  Gladys Mellott, Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Devin, Aaron & Ariann. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by a very special grand nephew, Dakota.  He was preceded in death by a son, Richard "Butch" Mellott, an infant sister, Alice JoAnn, a brother, William "Bill" Mellott and a nephew, Christopher.

Al served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  As a Staff Sergeant, he was a part of the Military Police and worked closely with the CID.  Towards the end of his service to his country, Al served as a recruiter for the Army.  After his honorable discharge, Mr. Mellott worked as a private investigator for many years.  In 1994, along with his wife and his son, he opened the Triple M Detective Agency in Bedford.  Al and his wife Phyllis also owned and operated the Aunt Tat's Attic Antique Store in Everett.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing pool.  Al was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 12 Noon on Monday, June 8th, 2015 with Pastor Lew Buttons officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford Cemetery.  Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at at the funeral home in Bedford.
