C. Robert "Bob" Koontz

C. Robert  "Bob" Koontz, 76, of Koontzville Road, Friends Cove passed away at 11:15  AM, Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Nason Hospital, Blair County, PA.

Mr. Koontz was born in Friends Cove, PA on June 3, 1943,  son of the late Willard and Pearl (Mellott) Koontz.

On June 22, 1963 he married Carolyn L. (Nave) Koontz. They were married for 56 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Robert D. husband of  Susan (Steed) Koontz, Bedford; Son- Kevin husband of  Mary (Jordan) Koontz, Harrisburg; Son- Deron husband of  Sara (Welsh) Koontz, Bedford; Daughter- Dana wife of  Chad Bulger, Bedford; Grandchildren Logan husband of  Karla (Stoltzfus) Koontz; Morgan (Koontz) wife of  Kyler Fink; Katie, Macy, Adam, Taylor and Kade Koontz, Baylee, Lindsay and Lara Bulger; Great-grandchildren Jade, Landon and Kenzly Koontz.  Bob is preceded in death by Sister-Shirley.

Bob was a 1961 graduate of Bedford High School and also attended Cathermans Business School.

He was a Branch Manager and Loan Officer for 39 years in the banking industry. He began at First National Bank then Johnstown Bank and Trust and was currently employed as a greeter at Somerset Trust Bank.

Bob was currently serving on the board of directors at REA where he had served since 1986. In 2009 he received the Eminent Service Award.

For many years Bob was  the Treasure for Colerain Rec. Council and delivered hoagies to many.

Bob attended various churches in the area and was currently affiliated with the Crossroad Bible Church. For many years Bob taught Sunday School at Chalybeate Springs Ministry.

He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Bob enjoyed bowling and bowled on two Tuesday night bowling leagues.  He greatly loved Penn State sports and ice cream and enjoyed delivering Penn State Creamery ice cream to many. He attended Penn State football games in 7 different decades and also attended the National Championship Games in 1982 and 1986 he also attended over 40 years of NCAA Wrestling tournaments.

While working in the banking industry Bob gave so many people their first loans, he would always believe in people.

Although we will miss him we are praising God he is struggle free now and in the presence of the Lord. It is a great comfort to know he is with Jesus. Bob was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 2-8PM and Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 10-11AM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held  at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 29, 2019  with Rev. Paul Claycomb  and Pastor Gary Sams officiating.

Interment at Friends Cove United Church of Christ Double Brick Cemetery, Friends Cove.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of C. Robert "Bob" Koontz to Colerain Rec. C/O Karl Gardner, 3746 Main Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
